Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Duplicate File Finder application for Windows and the filzyx.com website. Both are published by Filzyx. The short version: the app works entirely on your own computer and does not send us anything; the website only receives what you deliberately send through the feedback form.

1. Duplicate File Finder (the application)

  • No data collection. The app has no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting and no usage statistics. It never sends files, file names, hashes or scan results anywhere.
  • No account. You are not asked to register and you do not log in.
  • Local processing only. Scans, hashing (SHA-256), image comparison, music tag reading and audio fingerprinting all run on your machine. Nothing is uploaded.
  • No network access for scanning. The app does not use the internet to perform a scan or to delete files.
  • Settings are stored locally. Preferences are kept in your Windows user profile (under %APPDATA%\Filzyx) and are removed by the app's uninstaller.
  • File deletion. Files you mark are moved to the Recycle Bin by default, so you can restore them. The app deletes only what you explicitly select.
  • No advertising, no third parties. The app does not contain ads, SDKs for advertising, or bundled third-party software.

If you install the app from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft processes data related to the Store itself (such as downloads and purchases) under Microsoft's privacy statement. That processing is carried out by Microsoft, not by us.

2. The filzyx.com website

The website has no user accounts and sets no advertising cookies. Two things can involve your data:

  • Feedback form. When you submit the feedback form, the message you type and the email address (optional) are sent to us so we can read and reply. The message is delivered by our email provider and stored in our mailbox. We use it only to answer you and to improve the product; we do not sell it or share it for marketing.
  • Server logs. Our web server records standard technical information (such as IP address, time, requested URL and user agent) for security and to keep the site running. These logs are kept for a short period and are not used to build profiles.

The website does not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics.

3. Third parties

  • Email. Feedback messages are delivered through our email provider (Timeweb).
  • Hosting. The website is hosted on our own virtual server.
  • Microsoft Store. If you use the Store, Microsoft's own terms and privacy policy apply to the Store experience.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it except as needed to operate the services described above or where the law requires it.

4. Your choices and rights

  • You can use the app without ever contacting us and without sending any data.
  • If you sent us a message through the feedback form and want it deleted, email us and we will remove it from our mailbox.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data. Use the contact address below to make a request.

5. Children

The app and the website are general-purpose tools and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

6. Security

We keep the amount of personal data we handle to a minimum, which reduces risk. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the data we do hold.

7. Changes

We may update this policy if the app or the website changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision, and the current version is always available at https://filzyx.com/privacy/.
